Information |
The Afon Cefni was dammed in the late 1940s to create the reservoir Llyn Cefni to supply water to central Anglesey. The lake — the second largest body of water on the island — is located just to the north of the town of Llangefni. A causeway conveys the now disused Anglesey Central Railway across the reservoir.

Very impressive set of images, Graham. The spillway shots are particularly fine. I wonder if they will ever manage to get momentum on the plan to re-open the ACR.

Thanks, Iain. It is years since I had been there, and there are now a couple of new footbridges that hadn’t been there before. If I leave it as long again before returning, perhaps the ACR will have been rescued from the invading vegetation
(Or perhaps it will have been engulfed completely!)

There is a preservation group wanting to get a lease on the railway and there has been some work done on clearing parts of the line: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-17770791
