  1. I along with three collegues mounted guard at this crash site.
Amongst the debris lay a small blue hand case partly open.It contained 2 boot brushes some items of clothing,a return train ticket between locations in Ireland and a small doll. The memory of the pathetic scene remained vividly in my mind in particular the identity of the unfortunate crew
On 6th September 2007 I wrote to the Ministry of Defence Who gave me details of the accident and identities of the men naming P2 J. Campbell and Cpl Walker the likely owner of the case.
Now 62 years later something made me ask Google.I could hardly believe what I saw.It was the scene with the the stream and the large rock that I stood on to get my photo taken (sadly lost)
The poignancy of seeing the various scenes almost overwhelms me
that it compels me to submit this comment.

    • Many thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, William – your first hand account puts into perspective the human loss associated with these sites, which having survived over so many years now somehow seem rather disconnected from the events that caused them.

    • Thanks William cpl Walker Was my Uncle. I only found out about him a couple off years ago. He was ground crew .He won the spare seat on the plane by drawing a card with some fellow ground crew wanting to get back home.He was making his way home to see his mum in wicklow.
It has taken me this long to track him down as all i was told was that he had died in plane crash in sonwdonia.
I hope togo there in late or mid may.
