Information |
120-hole rock cannon on a small hillock hidden in the wooded area at Bryn Bella. There is an inscription carved into the surface of this great slab of rock, which is now overgrown with lichen and moss. The date is, however, still legible: 1838 — the year of Queen Victoria’s coronation. Reference: Griff R. Jones, The Rock Cannon of Gwynedd, 2002 (ISBN 0953369218)

I like the way that everything in the top pic seems to lead to the rock cannon…great shot. The carved date adds to the satisfaction of the find!

There are 168 firing holes all connected with powder channels on this rock. I would love to see more pictures of it if you have any. I am currently researching rock cannon.

Hi Tony. Unfortunately I don’t have any other shots available of this cannon. The other rock cannon that I’ve photographed can be seen here: https://geotopoi.wordpress.com/tag/rock-cannon/
