Information

This windmill in Gaerwen was bought by a group (or ‘union’) of Manchester businessmen in the mid 19th century. The rise of industrialised competition, however, brought about the general decline in windmills and the Union Mill closed in 1913, after which it fell into a state of disrepair.

An application for consent to convert and extend the building for domestic use was made in 2009. The re-developed three-bedroom property (with unfinished kitchen and bathroom) is now on the market for around £350,000.

  1. I like your top shot very much. The close view of the windmill shows, to my eye at least, an uneasy compromise between roof and windows…but it must have been difficult to come up with a workable solution. Looks like a great place to live, anyway!
