“We are being made aware that the organization of society on the principle of private profit, as well as public destruction, is leading both to the deformation of humanity by unregulated industrialism, and to the exhaustion of natural resources, and that a good deal of our material progress is a progress for which succeeding generations may have to pay dearly.”

Slate or copper mine? These are just fab Graham, especially love the foggy shot at the top.

Mostly slate quarries, but there is also a granite quarry and an aerial ropeway at a copper mine in the mix too. #1 (in the mist) is at Dinorwic slate quarry.

Life out of balance…people have been sounding the alarm for a long time but we haven’t listened well. Great series and perfect last shot. 🙂

Thank you, Lynn. That final shot is of an abandoned hangar, which has since had several uses, but which was originally part of a plant manufacturing seaplanes for WWII.
And yes, you are absolutely right. I come across quotes from decades and decades ago, and then look at the situation today… 🤷♂️

The shoe in the foreground is a powerful statement. Your ability to find unusual angles for compositions – shows in this series. 🙂
The quote pairs private profit with public destruction – very astute.

That was a serendipitous find. I liked the sense of it being a final trace of human connection to the now abandoned space…
