St Giles’ Church, High Street, Elgin 57.648682, -3.316048

Designed by Scottish architect Archibald Simpson (1790 – 1847), this Church of Scotland parish church was built in 1827 to replace the previous medieval building.

Elgin Cathedral 57.650395, -3.306499

The cathedral dates back to the 1200s and the ruins are in the care of Historic Scotland.

  1. With your keen eye and good sense of perspective, you have given us a wonderful idea of the height of these buildings. A love the juxtaposition of the new and the old. We have an Elgin in the Western Cape in a fertile area well known its grapes (and thus wines) as well as apple and pear orchards.
